WEIGH IN: we are so close!

Well being sick has really helped me this week, although I was still on track to lose at least a pound. Sleeping most of the day yesterday helped bring me to todays weight loss of….

-2.4 lbs!

Nice! That puts me at SIXTY NINE pounds total! So close to seventy I can taste it! It also means on my scale I am only about 3lbs aways from reaching 75lbs lost. That is sweet.

Today I went to the 12:00 meeting so I didn’t feel compelled to fast until 5:30 (god that sounds awful) so the leader was different. I mentioned  a few weeks ago that they gave us new weight tracker books, so today when New Leader goes to put my weight sticker in my book this happens:

Leader “oh week four, let’s get you your Week Four booklet”

Me: “Oh no this is not my week four

Leader: “Oh what week are you on?”

Me: “Umm Week Thirty-Something”

Leader: (glances at my weight sticker) “oh my…wow!”

Me: (smiles awkwardly) “Ha, yeah, not week four”

Leader: “Oh my you must feel like a totally new person! Thats so great that you have stayed motivated this long!”

SIDE NOTE: Based on the fact that new WW leaders always seemed shocked by my loss, I’m assuming my *results aren’t typical.

Me: (get this whole “you must feel like a whole new person” thing a lot, and no I don’t really feel like a whole new person) “oh yeah, its great, I’ve been doing this since May 4th, I’m really hoping to lose 100lbs by my 1 year mark”

Leader: (scans me up and down) “Really? you think you need to lose another thirty pounds???”

Me: (actually bitch I need to lose another 45lbs, but thirty would make me happy!) “oh yeah I do”

Leader: “Well congrats!”

I walk away and find my seat. I feel like she is winking at me through the whole meeting. Weird-o.

Anyways the meeting was mildly boring, talking about how we need to get out there and move. Some scary statistic about how people who actually maintain their weight loss work out an average of ninety minutes a day (please note this could mean walking through a  parking lot, not working out in a gym). One day maybe I’ll get my working out together. Today I am sick, today is not that day.

Oh and so I leave you with my 69 (70)lb loss pic, along with an old shot for dramatic effect. Enjoy!

69lbs lost!

like 10lbs lost.

Take THAT Holiday Parties!

In case you missed reading it I had THREE parties this weekend, all of which had copious amounts of food or alcohol, or both! But since I am so determined NOT to let the Christmas season hurt my weight loss, I came up with a game plan. I let myself eat the cookies and drink the cocktails, but skipped out on large meals. Yeah, it’s probably not the healthiest plan, but its only for a few weeks and its better than eating the cookies AND huge home cooked meals! I mean by no means am I starving..ha! Far from it, I just chose to eat small amounts all day long and not actually eat meals. None the less it paid off and my weigh-in tonight went a little something like this…

STEPS ON SCALE

HOLDS BREATH

STEP OFF SCALE

SEES -2.4!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DOES HAPPY DANCE!

Yay! I lost 2.4 pounds this week! Holla! that puts me at 65.8 pounds lost! And only 8.2 pounds away from my goal on the Weight Watchers scale, and 6.2 pounds away on my scale! That means I have to lose 6.2 pounds in 11 days…hmm. I don’t know about that. We will see. Mr. Gaunt says I should actually just haul my ass to the gym and I could probably drop those 6 pounds easy. I may have to buckle down and do this. If I can lose 2.4lbs in a week NOT going to the gym, then I might be able to do 3 pounds in a week working out. Ok I have to get ready for bed, just wanted to share the good news.

Me (in purple) at my friend Kristin's going away party!

Im not Dead…just rashy.

I guess its been a few days since I posted. I skipped weigh-in this week for a few reasons, but the number one being its in the negatives temperature wise and its takes a LOT to get me out of the house. No way was I gonna pile on the layers to go weigh in…bleh. Which is pretty lame of me, but I dont care. I will be going on Monday night this week dont worry.

Ah so the freezing weather is really getting to me, as much as I hate blazing hot weather, I hate this even more! It burns your skin when you go outside, it makes things like walking to the mail box, eating lunch in your car, hell getting up in the morning very difficult. It means we have to close all of our blinds and add extra bedding. Poor Hula loves to sit in the window but can’t with the blinds closed.  It also means that I have developed huge scabby dry patches all over my body! Then today after lunch I went to the bathroom and noticed a red rash had broken out all over my legs! I kind of freaked out and told my supervisor (in tears) that I needed to go home. I put on lots of lotion and washed my bedding and took a Benadryl. Things seem to be looking better, but Im blaming the weather!

I also am very irritated by the short days! It makes me want to crawl in bed at 8 and do nothing! Like right now its 6:15 and I feel like it’s too late to do anything else. Oh and this damn weather has also made poor Hula a giant static ball! You pet her and you get shocked! You can hear the static whenever she rolls around on the couch…crakle crakle crackle.  Needless to say spring can come any time!

Christmas is also just around the corner (two weeks from tomorrow) and I could kind of give a shit. I dont get to go home this year and see my family, and none of them are coming to see me. I dont want to bake (for obvious reasons) which I love to do at the holidays. Money is tight right now so there is no giant pile of presents under the tree. Can I get a Bah Hum Bug? No, for real Im trying to get in the spirit, but I have a feeling Christmas may come and go without me really noticing.  I did make out all of our Christmas cards (a tradition I actually find important to give and receive) last night and plan to mail them tomorrow after work. Mr. Gaunt is away for the evening too so I will probably get all of his gifts wrapped and stuck under the tree.

Oh I watched the season finale of Biggest Loser last night on DVR. HOLY COW! Was that not insane? I couldnt believe how they looked! Both Rudy and Danny just looked killer! And Amanda looked pretty good too.  The only thing that I find a little disturbing was Rebecca (who’s starting weight was 279) at 5’6″ weighed in last night at 140lbs. When they did her Jay Leno update a few weeks ago I believe she was at 160 and she looked AMAZING! Last night however she looked a little too thin. Also Tracey who had dropped about 50% of her starting weight looked a little this as well. Im sure both women are very healthy, and congrats to them for getting it all off, I just hope they find a happy weight that they can maintain. It also showed me the I do NOT want to weigh 140lbs (which for my height at 5’7 with a larger frame is about the lowest I would go) but rather would feel very good at 150-160lbs.

Ok onto something I have been debating a for a while now. As you probably have noticed I have yet to actually say how much I weigh on this blog. I talk about how much I have lost/want to lose, but not how much I actually weigh. I have been carefull not to share %loss as well because I know y’all arent stupid and you could easily do the math. At this point there are two people who actually know my current weight (and what I started at) that it Mr. Gaunt and Pro. Telling both of them was also pretty difficult, but I felt if I wanted their support then they really needed to know all the facts. And of course they were both very loving and supportive and made me feel like it wasnt a big deal…although to me…it was. Now on to my dilemma: Basically I had decided awhile back that I really DO want to share with you what I weigh, and I want to not be superficial and I want to show you that the number doesnt really matter. I told myself that on January 1st 2010 I would finally tell you all what I weighed, what size I wear, what my current measurements are, what I started at…the works. It just makes me nervous. There are a lot of people who read this blog that dont leave comments. Lost of old highschool friends and family members. Men, women, coworkers. Do I really want all of these people to know? And what are they gonna say? “Holy shit she was the size of a house!”? I hate that! I dont want to feel like people are judging me. I dont want them to think of me differently…will they? Will you?

I dont know. Im still building up the guts to do this, we will see. At this point I am so proud of how far I have come thats its not about you knowing what I weigh today, its just about where I let myself get….ugg. Ok so words of encouragement would be great!

Ok Im off to the store and then home to eat chilli! Oh and I swear Im going to do some cooking this week, weve just been doing boring things. The following are on the Menu though:

-Weight Watchers Veggie Lasagna

-Mango-licous Tilapia

-Chicken Sausage Jambalaya

Oh yeah, Im losing weight.

I hate to say it, but things got a little off track this week. Thanksgiving and Mr. Gaunt’s Birthday involved many big yummy meals. I skipped last weeks weigh in, and then I lost about 2 pounds, but after Thanksgiving I gained it back. Today Im about the same as I was two weeks ago. Im annoyed with myself, my self control, or lack there of. Im annoyed that Im letting the stupid Holidays be what everyone says they are…a time to get fat! Im pissed that I might not make my goal by January 1st. Im being too lazy to work out, too stressed over other shit to put my weight loss first.

Theres nothing I can do about the choices I made this week, but I can tell you that the next 4 weeks will NOT have a negative affect on my weight. Christmas can bite me!

GOALS FOR THIS WEEK:

-Remove all leftovers, desserts and bad carbs from this house.

-Drink water…LOTS of water

-Go to weigh in by Wednesday at the latest (if Im not feeling ok with my weight by monday night)

-Eat more fruit (I hate winter!)

-No eating after 6pm (I go to bed at 9:30)

DRUNK with FOOD

uhg! Last night we celebrated Mr. Gaunt’s birthday a week early by going to Texas De Brazil for dinner. It’s an amazing restaurant that has the most to die for salad bar (think fancy cheese, Lobster bisque soup, gourmet olives, the works!) but I ate waaay too much. More than I have eaten in forever (hey you pay $50 you wanna get your moneys worth!) anyways it was a baaaaaaaaad idea. I went home feeling so ungodly uncomfortable that I felt nausea and dizzy with mild heart burn! I was laying in bed moaning thinking I was gonna die (like you do the first time you drink way too much) gross. This morning wasnt much better, I felt totally hung over. Lesson learned. I no longer can fill my tummy to its breaking point. This is a good thing. I missed weigh in this week, like I was gonna weigh in after that meal! Ha! So hopefully things will go well this week, we’ll see.

Oh and go over and wish my lovely Pro CONGRATS on fitting into her skinny jeans! YOU ARE AMAZING! LOVE YOU!

Lets pretend ham isnt pork…ok?

Ha! I dont eat pork, havent for about 4 months. The reasons vary, it started on my Vegan kick and then I brought Chicken back in but left Pork and Beef out. Beef is still WAAAAY out, pork too, except tonight apparently. In Weight Watchers they often promote Canadian Bacon because it is extremely low in points.  Last week I bought a bag of diced Canadian bacon because I had at least two recipes the required it. I dont plan on eating this very often, but tonight’s dinner did include it and it was damn delish!

This is a take on the ham and peas dinner. Im not sure why but ham always seems to go with peas, I added spinach and onions to that too. In fact the whole pasta dish turned out rather green!

INGREDIENTS:

-1 Cup cubed Canadian Bacon or Ham

-2 Cups (or half a bag) of frozen Spinach

-1 Cup Frozen Peas

-1 Cup diced onions

-Whole Wheat Pasta

-1 Cup Fat Free 1/2 and 1/2

-3/4 cup cheese of choice (I used skim cheddar and Parmesan)

-Salt

-Black Pepper

-Red Pepper Flakes

-Minced Garlic

DIRECTIONS:

-In a large pot boil pasta.

-Defrost spinach in microwave and place in a paper towel, ring out all excess water.

-In a large pan Saute Garlic and onions. When onions are clear and Garlic is browned add Ham and cook on medium until a little browned. Add Spinach, salt, pepper, pepper flakes, toss until the peas and spinach are all warm and cooked in. Add 1/2 and 1/2 and cheese, mix until all cheese is melted.

-Drain Pasta

-Mix pasta with your veggie ham cream sauce!

Enjoy!

WEIGH-IN!

I missed my weigh-in last night so I went this afternoon. I knew it wasnt going to be quite as good as the last few weeks, but was really hoping I might hit 60lbs lost. Well I was soooo close but no cigar. 1.4lbs lost putting me at 59.2 total. Really pretty good, and next week will definitely be the week for 60lbs! That means I only have about 15 more pounds to loose by January 1st. There are 44 days left in the year (yeah crazy I know!) which means 6.3 weeks, so I have to loose 2.3lbs per week! I THINK I CAN I THINK I CAN I THINK I CAN!
