Thats a Wrap: 2014 Goals, plans, and the like.

Before diving into 2014, lets recap 2013. We can start here on my “2013 Goals” post. I only accomplished THREE things from last years list, although the biggest and best of those things took 10 months out of the year, so yah know…that wins.

v 1

v 2

Pregnancy was a slap in the face. If it hadn’t brought me the best tiny thing on earth I’d say it wasn’t worth it! I basically did NOTHING this year but suffer in pregnancy misery. No cooking, no exercise, no vacations, nothing but throwing up and bitching. But hoorah it’s over and my baby is awesome. So I suppose it was equally the best and worst year ever. (:

Above you will also see our awesome new camera (which was another goal for last year). Alas we did not save up and buy this dream camera, it was a very generous gift from my mother in law, and we are so smitten! Today I ordered 330 prints of photos we have taken with this camera in the last 8 weeks. It’s so very important to me to regularly document our lives, especially Vada’s, and having this awesome camera really makes it so easy and wonderful! Forgive me Facebook, for I cant help but share photos of my baby like it’s my job. Feel free to hide me (:

The last goal I accomplished last year was becoming self employed. I haven’t talked about it much on here, but my mom and I opened a restaurant in July! This experience has been both challenging and rewarding. I have so many emotions about it, and it’s taken me some time to process them amongst the pregnancy and birth, and simple family stuff. I’m looking forward to making the restaurant really be one of my passions, and to help make it even more successful. More on this when I get to my new goals.

So yeah, even though I didn’t lose weight, didn’t meal plan, didn’t go on any hikes, I did do some pretty great things in 2013. For 2014 I WONT BE PREGNANT, and plan to accomplish a lot more little things, and lot fewer big things. Sorry folks no more babies this year.

2014 GOALS

1. Build my Business, Build my passion for my business. This is huge. The restaurant is going to support me, and let me work around and with my family. It’s something my mom and I have worked really hard to put together, and it isn’t without it’s challenges. The hours are long, the money is tight, and we sometimes wonder if it’s worth it, but it is. It’s something both my mom and I really wanted, and we are very lucky to have come this far. We have lots of support from our friends and family, and we will continue to succeed. For me the biggest challenge will be building the business, and building my knowledge on running a business, it’s tough stuff. I also need to find my passion within the business. My mom is the cook, and she loves feeding people, and even loves interacting with people. For me the marketing and visuals and business side are what I like, but it’s hard to figure all that out. But like I said, it’s a goal I will continue to work at all year.

2. Take a family vacation: I want to close the restaurant for the last two weeks of August and take a family vacation. I’m thinking renting a cabin in Eastern Washington, or somewhere in the south Sound. Maybe even Hawaii if its super cheap. I’m picturing Vada in a baby bikini playing in the sand while I sip a Pina Colada…yes.

3. Get our  finances on track to buy a house: There are a million reasons we want to buy a house. I’d love to fix one up and feel like the money and energy we put into our home is actually ours. Unlike now, all the work we have done on our home and yard is for our Landlords, which is fine, because we love doing the work, and we get to appreciate it while we live here, but still. Also we do not want to have another baby in this house, it’s too small. Also we really want a guest room, so when people come to visit us (Nana, my sister, my close friends) we have a room that they can stay in, this would be sooo nice. So yeah, we need to talk with a financial advisor about what we need to do to make this happen in the next couple years. I doubt we would buy a house this year, but yah never know.

4. Overall Health: Weight loss, exercise, eating well, the usual. I’d like to drop the baby weight, and feel good about myself, not that I dont feel good now, because I really do. I also want Mr. Gaunt to get into shape, and be a healthy role model for Vada when she starts eating real food in 5 months.

So that’s that. I hope everyone has a great New Years!

Also scrolling through the last year of this blog I am so pleased with how many yummy dishes I made and how my photography is even getting better.  I have big plans for this coming year that I will post tomorrow in my RESOLUTIONS & GOALS post.

Whats Up?

My weight…lol!

No not really. Well, to be honest I’m giving myself a one week cleanse before stepping on the scale. That way I don’t just plunge into a deep dark weight depression. I definitely indulged a little…not too much by any means. I’m pretty ok with how the holidays went.

Today though after adding in my calorie intake I only have about 250 calories left for dinner. That my friends is a bummer. Oh well, it is what it is.

I did pay close attention to how “crappy foods” affected my body. My mouth felt sugar-coated and thirsty after a weekend of Almond Roca. My tummy felt swollen and achy after too much meat. All in all I am SOOOOO glad that these are now rare feelings, and better yet, that my body has NEGATIVE reactions to bad food…you know you have a problem when your body has no reaction to bad foods, when it’s just use to the crap you dump down your throat. Thank you body for knowing whats up. I promise to continue to respect you and feed you well.

So we have one week until RESOLUTION DAY! Ok New Years day.

I’m still thinking on my Resolutions. I have a few. Some health related, some mental, some relationship, some business. I’m going to do a fun project to help Mr. Gaunt and I focus on these goals. I’m looking forward to the New Year. It should be VERY exciting and interesting.
Mr. Gaunt and I have started organizing and doing a little mild packing. We put away all of our Summer clothes, things we knew we wouldnt need in the next 3 months. I’m slowly organizing and packing all of my craft supplies, because I have no plans to craft before we move. It’s a slow…somewhat paitnfull…process. We need to make a room by room plan so I don’t lose my head over it.

Well I’m off to have some tea! I leave you with a few Healthy Appetizer recipes in case you are going to any New Years parties!

Roasted Cauliflower and Curry Spread

Garlicky Spinach Balls

Cucumber, Pomegranate and Bacon Canape (recomend turkey bacon)

Caprese Salad

Cherry Tomatoes Filled With Creamy Pesto Cheese

Warm Artichoke and Bean Dip

Think. Thank. Thought.

I realized today that having this blog has opened me up to other people’s:

-Worries for me

Along with tons of good stuff too! Don’t get me wrong, the comments and feedback is one of the main reasons I continue to journal here. The rest is just something I have to learn to work with. I know how much my friends and family love me and want whats best for me. I have however spent the last 4 years more or less doing whatever I want. With little friends and family here, I really taken for granted the freedom I have had. And although I am so very excited to be amongst everyone again, please forgive me if it takes a while for me to adjust to having others opinions shared to me. I promise to take in what I can, and to also continue to respect Mr. Gaunt and my choices too.

Now that that has been said, I think my 5HTP is working a little! This is so nice. I’m sorry I havent cooked anything lately, I’m doing low-calorie right now, its crunch time. There may be very little food recipes over the next 6-9 months. I also have a few more wedding posts to bore you all with…heehee.  I’m off to job #2 now, but I want all of my readers to spend some time in the next TWENTY THREE days of 2010 to make three lists:

Either email them to me or post them in the comments. I wanna do some fun posts on them!

Shoe-Years Resolution!

Well this obviously wasn’t one of my main New Years Resolutions, but I did make it. This year I decided I want to wear more high heels, well more stylish shoes in general. See I’ve always been a purse gal, I have about a million purses and I love getting more! I think I love them because it doesn’t matter what size you are, a purse always fits. Shoes are a whole nother thing. As far as I can remember I’ve been a size 10, which sounds big, but a lot of  women are right around there.  Since losing weight though my feet have shrunken to about a 9.5 (how the heck does that work?) so some of my old shoes don’t really fit that well. Most of my adult life I have religiously worn flip flops, year-round. I love them! They are cheap and comfy! I also have always had this weird thing where I like a shoes that makes my feet look wider. I know it sounds crazy, but when I would wear tiny shoes (like high heels and even some tennis shoes) that made my feet look narrower I always felt like it made my body look huge in comparison. Wide feet match a wide body! Ha…my own neurosis!

Anyways this year I’m giving it an honest effort to upgrade my shoes and try to wear less flip flops. Here are a few shoes I have acquired over the last month or two:

From Savers

From some trashy shoe store in the mall

From Target

From Plato's Closet

2009: Year In Review January 1, 2010

Was 2009 good for you? Yes I would say it was probably the best year in the last 5 years. The first year since I graduated from High School that I would say I felt content and happy with myself and my life.

What was your favorite moment of the year? I guess when I realized that I wasnt the person I use to be. That I felt strong with myself and my relationship.

What was your worst moment of the year? A few financial hick-ups were very unfortunate. Making a poor business decision (that turned out ok in the end).

Where were you when 2009 began? At Jenny and Justin’s house, feeling crappy.

Who were you with? Mr. Gaunt and friends.

Where were you when 2009 ended? Jenny and Justins, with Mr. Gaunt and friends feeling sleepy.

Did you keep your new years resolution of 2009? I did, I resolved to stop drinking Pop/Soda.

Do you have a new years resolution for 2010? I do, you can read them HERE

Did you fall in love in 2009? You know, although I had been dating Mr. Gaunt for two years when 2009 started, I would really say this year we finally learned to really love each other. We found strength in each other, and I found love in myself that I had to have in order to love him. This is the first year that I know we are meant for each other.

Did you make any new friends in 2009? Umm I suppose I made some new co worker friends, and Pro and became much closer this year.

What was your favorite month of 2009? Im going to say August. I was so happy with my life, I was swimming all the time, I had some lovely weeks where I didnt have to work, I was at the farmers market all the time. It was a beautiful month.

Why this month? see above

Did you travel outside of the US in 2009? I didnt this year.

How many different places did you travel to in 2009? I went to Washington and that about it.

What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2009? Julie and Julia, sigh…its MY movie.

What was your favorite song from 2009? Im gonna have to be a teeny bopper and say that Miley Cyrus’s The Climb was a good one for this year.

Did you have a favorite concert in 2009? I only went to one, I saw Kings of Leon at REd Rocks. Im not a huge concert fan, but this one wasnt too bad.

What was your favorite book in 2009? I love the Twilight books, I also read some great Wally Lamb books.

Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year? hmm. I didnt keep in contact with some friends back home as much as I should. I also went multiple months without talking to my dad which is unfortunate.

What was the biggest lie you told in 2009? I told a lot of lies to people about the success of my Coffee Cart business. It was a very difficult thing, and it was hard ot talk to people about that, so I often said “Its Fine”.

Did you treat somebody badly in 2009? Mr. Gaunts mom and I had a hard few months in 2009.

Did somebody treat you badly in 2009? Same as above, it was hard on both of us.

What was your proudest moment of 2009? Losing over 65 pounds. Finding my happy. Starting this blog. Being a wedding planner.

What was your most embarrassing moment of 2009? umm, probably talking to the world about my weight issue. Also having a failed business.

If you could go back to any moment of 2009 and change something, what would it be? No, I would not change one. Even my job issues, had I not quit Home Depot, started a coffee cart, sold my coffee cart, been unemployed I would not be where I am today.

Where did you work in 2009? I started working as a kitchen designer for the Home Depot, then I quit. Mr. Gaunt and I started our own Coffee cart which didnt prove to financially successful, we sold that. I was unemployed for a month, part time employed as a wedding planner. I got a job at Costco that had a bad schedule, quit that and joined The Home Depot MET team where I am happily employed today.

Favorite TV shows(s) of 2009? Entourage, True Blood, Gilmore Girls.

Favorite Food in 2009? Oh I have made soooo many yummy things!

Favorite person(s) to talk to in 2009? Always my mom.

Favorite trip in 2009? I only went to Washington, and although it was hot, it was still nice.

Favorite stores in 2009? The Farmers Market! and Savers.

Most exciting moment(s) in 2009? losing 65lbs!

Funniest moment(s) in 2009? Hmm, When Mr. Gaunt peed on his foot…last night….lol.

Ok now its your turn! Post your blog link so I can read it!
