Like Fruit Fondu…kinda.

In the summer we eat tons of fruit, in the winter it gets a bit harder. I’m a big Mellon, Peaches,  and berries fan, which are hard to come by (at a good price) in the winter. So Bananas, Apples and Tangerines are about all we get now. During the week I eat on average 2-3 tangerines a day (one on each break), and half a banana on my cereal in the morning, but sometimes on the weekends I forget to eat any fruit at all. Recently (much to my dismay) Mr. Gaunt brought Nutella home. I have had Nutella a number of times, and while it is delicious, its pretty much garbage (even thought the stupid commercial makes you think its just nuts and skim milk…not true). However in moderation it’s not that much worse than Peanut butter, its kind of a chocolate dessert. It has a lot of sugar in it which sucks, but its pretty pleasing to eat with a big pile of apples and bananas!

  1. Oh man, I do NOT love me some Nutella! I think it tastes like weird chocolate chalky grossness…


    I did purchase some Earth Balance Almond Butter the other day, and it was damn good. Compared to natural PB, for 2 tbs, it has fewer calories, fewer grams of fat, more fiber, more protein, and almonds are a much better nut for you! The only downside is it has about a gram more sugar because it’s sweetened a tad with agave nectar.

    It’s pretty yum yum… you know, for us girls who can’t jump on the Nutella bandwagon! 🙂

  2. be careful with this stuff… I’m not going to go into details and I KNOW you know, but I’m just saying… I’ve gotten into trouble with this kind of snack (aka not much to it and it seems innocent enough, but the calories of which add up like mad!). Nutella and Peanut Butter are my serious weaknesses, I think its because I tell myself they’re fairly healthy, or at least not a donut, right? And its not like you get really full off of them because they’re not dense protein, I can eat these in mega quantities if grazing mindlessly. Anyhoo, like I said, I know you know these things… maybe I’m really just giving myself a pep talk 🙂
